The NRW State Initiative on Future Energies was established in 1996 with the aim of supporting the development, production and use of innovative technologies in one of Europe's most important energy regions, the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW). Providing as it does a forum for information and communication, it lays stress on innovative technologies for the efficient generation and use of energy and on renewable energy sources. The State Initiative's activities focus on promoting innovative processes in North Rhine-Westphalia, thus paving the way for co-operative ventures and strategic alliances and assisting with market launches.
All the activities undertaken by the NRW State Initiative on Future Energies are intended as an effective contribution to environmental protection, to the creation of jobs and to the promotion of the restructuring currently underway in the State's industry. Superior expertise in advanced energy technologies, an engineering lead with respect to products and processes for power plant technologies, energy generation and the use of solar energy - these are all factors which will help reinforce the top international standing already enjoyed by companies based in NRW. With this in mind, the State Initiative supports collaboration between the scientific and business domains. It also establishes favourable operating environments for the development of future energies - including generation, transformation and conversion concepts and concepts for the application of established fossil fuels. The Fuel Cell Network NRW is part of the state initiative and especially supports fuel cell and hydrogen technologies in NRW. | |
